Workforce Development Strategy

Access to skilled labour is an increasing concern for individuals, businesses and industry leaders across the country. Canada is facing a technical skills shortage of unprecedented proportions with serious implications for long-term productivity and competitiveness. Brantford is not immune to this labour market pressure and estimates indicate if left unchecked, it will only rise in the future. In today’s global economy, talented, motivated and skilled people are the world’s most valuable resource.

To address these local labour retention and skills shortages issues, the City of Brantford and its partners have launched a community wide workforce development strategy aimed at meeting the present and future needs of employers in the community as well as providing employment opportunities for its citizens.

To be successful in the future the community, as a whole, needs forward thinking and vision as to what the possibilities for the future are, an innovative plan to get there and people to champion the cause. By working together in partnership, Brantford is poised to implement a meaningful workforce development strategy utilized by employers, educators, government and service providers.
